You can find the first part of our trilogy of lists here, which showcases a number of more affordable trade paperback collections.
Last week, the second installment focused on hardcover collections, although slightly more expensive. You can find that list right here.
Today, we’re getting into the crème-de-la-crème of comic book collections. Save these for someone you really care for…or for even someone like yourself! Who wouldn’t want these tomes wrapped up?
With only a few days to go before Christmas, and without further ado, here is the final installment of our list of comic book collections for the 201 6holiday season!
Last week, we highlighted a number of trade paperback comic book collections, perfect gifts for friends and loved ones (or yourself) this holiday season.
If you haven’t already, you can check out that particular list right here.
But maybe you want to kick it up a notch this month.
Maybe you’ve got a special someone that really only likes hardcover books on the bookshelf. Or maybe you’re looking to find something that carries a slightly higher budget than softcover collections.
No worries. This week, we’ve got your back.
Here’s the second installment of our Holiday Gift Guide: Comic Book Collections!
They’ve watched the films multiple times. They get excited at the mention of cats, umbrellas, and planes. They are actively saving up for a trip to Japan. They’ll debate with you over the pronunciation of Ghibli. All of these are signs that you know a Studio Ghibli lover, so why not get them a gift that they will love as much as Ponyo loves ham?
Today sees the first part of three columns dedicated to comic book compilations released throughout the year. This is stuff that your comic book loving friends and family (and you) need to be reading during the cold days and even colder nights of December, January and February.
This first column will focus on the more affordable offerings – trade paperbacks of great comic book series’ and one-offs. We’ll kick that up with the next two columns, taking a closer look at must-have hardcovers and giant-sized omnibus and absolute edition volumes.
You know, for those that you really, really love. And have a budget (or a strong enough gift bag) to shoulder it.
In every case, happy holidays… here begins the comic book gift of reading that you should be giving this season!
With the highly anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film only ten days away from release, we here at Biff Bam Pop! thought it was high time to ask some of our most interested (and often affected) DC Universe enthusiasts what they might want to see as Easter Eggs in the film.
You know. Easter Eggs: those hidden gems of story or nods to characters, situations, etc., from the winding canon of comic book history that only the most hard-core of hard-core fans would ever recognize – and probably appreciate.
We know that the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film will be the hoped-for inciting point for everything that will come afterwards in the DC Cinematic Universe. Can the filmmakers make links to what comes next in an altogether intuitive, interesting and non-obtrusive way?
Here, then, are 9 Eater Eggs that three Biff Bam Pop writers want to see in the blockbuster film. Give them a read, and then tell us what yours might be, fan-boy and fan-girl!
You see the work of Marie Gilbert here at Biff Bam Pop! every week. Our Steampunk Granny, zombie expert, and senior writer regularly reviews the cool stuff here, episode by episode recaps of “The Walking Dead,” “Defiance,” “Orphan Black,” among others, and soon “Fear the Walking Dead.” Her interviews and ghost investigations are always top notch. Marie rocks, and we love her, but now we have an extra special reason to be proud of her – she’s not just a published author, but this past week she has released her second novel, the next in the Roof Oasis series. Meet me after the jump and I’ll tell you all about Saving Solanda.
Over the last few weeks, our 2014 Gift Guide has detailed a number of comic book related ideas that you should consider wrapping up for that special pop-culture comic book fan in your life. You can check out two of those lists here and here.
Now, those selections are a little on the pricier side of things, but there are a number of fantastic – and affordable – comic book related compilations that you could lovingly give this holiday season.
Follow me after the jump, and I’ll run through eight different titles, in multiple collections, that everyone needs to reading!
Biff Bam Pop! presents The GAR! Podcast, the Glenn Walker and Ray Cornwall weekly podcast where they talk unrehearsed about whatever happens to come to mind. It’s an audio-zine for your mind, a nerd exploration of a nerd world. This week, we’re talking about Mick Foley, his career, and his I Am Santa Claus documentary, also Elf on a Shelf, and the more on the new cat. See and hear more after the jump.
Not often do I find a book that grabs me, pulls me in, and entertains me for the entire length I read. It is even more rare that I find a book that I will find hard to put down and read straight through. I’ll Be Here All Week by Ward Anderson, a look into the world of stand up comedy, is one of those books – funny, entertaining, honest, dark, and fun. Check out my review after the jump.
