This time on Heroes and Villains, we’ll be looking at a variety of comics out this week and last, from a variety of genres. Here in Toronto, Canada, the sun is shining and the clock excitedly ticks down to quitting time when many of us make our weekly pilgrimage to the local comic book shop to grab our fill of the world’s best pop culture, visual storytelling, medium.
While some might be excited about today’s release of the ninth – and concluding chapter of DKIII (finally!), others might be looking for a new read. One that won’t be hampered by regular delays (hopefully!) but is also backed up by a proven artistic team.
And you know that we here at Biff Bam Pop! like our horror.
We like it psychological, and dreadful, and full of monsters, and covens, and secrets, and nasty things that play in the dark.
It just so happens that’s what we get today with the release of the first issue of…The Unsound.
How’s that for inspiring dread?!?
As Biff Bam Pop! continues it’s 2016 edition of 31 Days Of Horror, this week, the Wednesday Run column gives you yet another in-season choice to read.
Imagine then, a small town in rural America, beset by a dreadful history of witchcraft and malevolent magic that is plagued in present day life by an unending series of “Haints” – inhuman creatures, ghosts, goblins and monsters!
Harrow County is an absolutely beautiful monthly horror series from publisher Dark Horse Comics, and one this site has recommended before. If you need to catch up, there have been three volumes collected already, with a fourth on the way, early next year. (Just so you know, Harrow Country is also in development as a television series!)
That said, the scary season is upon us and that means that the comic book to pick up this week is Harrow County #17!
If you’re not coming to Biff Bam Pop! for insightful readings and interviews on your favourite television shows, movies, video games or music, then you must be coming here for the comic books! Right? Right!
And what would a Holiday Gift Guide be, here on Biff Bam Pop!, if we didn’t make mention of some of the great comic book collections that should be under the tree, or given as a gift for every fan this season?
Here it is, then:
Over the rest of the week, we’ll be listing some of the cheaper, more moderate, are quite expensive trade paperback and hardcover collections of some of the best comic book reading you or a loved one will likely experience this year! Let’s hit the more affordable ones first, shall we?
Follow me after the jump for all the winter holiday horror, detective sci-fi, comedy and heroic fiction that needs to be read!
