With all the hype that continues to surround last week’s number film at the box office, the odds of any of the three new releases making any form of impact are slim to none. How will theyt do, though? Here’s our predictions:
The new movies that enter the very crowded January fray inclue the thriller The Boy Next Store, with Jennifer Lopez; the Lucasfilm/Disney animated feature, Strange Magic; and Mortdecai, a comedy starring the faltering Johnny Depp and Gwyneth Paltrow. The truth of the matter is, none of these films stand a chance at real box office success. J-Lo is far from a box office draw these days (though her American Idol fans may number enough to boost the film a bit); there’s little buzz around Strange Magic, which will have to do battle against the critically acclaimed family film Paddington; and Mortdecai is being hailed as yet another failure from Johnny Depp, who has been having a serious dry stretch of success these days. On that note, look for The Boy Next Door to debut in second place with $20 million, while Mortdecai will squeak into the top five with $9 million.
This past week Life with Archie #36 came out, and if you’ve been paying attention to various news outlets, and the comics press for the last few months, you know it’s the death of Archie Andrews. But that’s not the end of it, it’s not even the tip of the iceberg. We’ll get a bit of background, and learn all about life and death with Archie, after the jump.
It started off with a bang – both Iron Man 3 and the 2013 summer movie season. Here’s a look back at what worked in the biggest movie of the year.

Wow! That was all I could think walking out of Iron Man Three late late last night. This was a phenomenal film, but it was sooo not what I expected. This flick was not what anyone expected. And it will blow everyone away. This is the must-see film of the summer so far. Check out my relatively spoiler-free review after the jump.
Here is a very special Trailer Time for Mighty Marvel March here at Biff Bam Pop! Ladies and gentlemen, Avengers and civilians, super-villains and metahuman terrorists, may I present the new trailer for Iron Man 3!
Wow. We get a better look at the Iron Patriot, at the Mandarin, a whole bunch of different Iron Man armors, and was that the Hulkbuster??
Iron Man 3 stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, and Ben Kingsley. The film opens on May 3rd, 2013, and that day just can’t get here fast enough!
What do you folks think?
There is lots of great stuff here, besides a first look at the Mandarin, we get a reference to Marvel’s The Avengers, new armors, the destruction of Tony Stark’s slick playboy hideout, and of course, many many shots of the notorious Iron Patriot armor. We see Tony in it here in the trailer, but rumors are flying about who else might be wearing it as well. In the comics, it was Norman Osborne, but we know it won’t be him…
Iron Man 3, starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce, and Don Cheadle, opens May 3, 2013.
