Record-Breaking Bond – Biff Bam Pop’s Weekend Box Office Wrap-Up Report

Bond, James Bond claimed the top spot at the box office this weekend, making a huge splash with the franchise’s biggest opening weekend ever. Here’s what went down:

Skyfall flew to the top of the box office this weekend, bringing in an estimated $88 million to claim bragging rights. This is an absolutely fantastic opening weekend, bigger than Quantum of Solace’s still strong $67 million debut back in 2009. With a number like this and positive critical and fan reaction, Skyfall is in position to possibly gross more than $200 million at the North American box office. We’ll definitely be keeping our eyes on the film’s total as the weeks progress.

As for how the rest of the weekend turned out, find out after the jump!
Wreck-It Ralph continues to be the family film of choice, as it dropped just 32% to bring in $33 million and land in second place this weekend. The film has nearly grossed $100 million in just two weekends, and should be able to hang out in the top five for a little while longer.

As for the rest of the top five, Flight dropped to third spot with $15 million, Argo claimed fourth place with $6.7 million and Taken 2 rounded things out in fifth place with $4 million.

So, to recap, here were are our predictions:

1) Skyfall – $95 million
2) Wreck-It Ralph – $33 million
3) Flight – $15 million
4) Argo – $6.7 million
5) Taken 2 – $4 million

And here’s how the weekend turned out:

1) Skyfall – $88 million
2) Wreck-It Ralph – $32 million
3) Flight – $19 million
4) Argo – $10 million
5) Taken 2 – $5 million
