Scene Stealers: The Minions of “Despicable Me”

And that folks, is why I love The Minions (the true stars of both Despicable Me 1 & 2).  I could literally be fired from my job, have my house burn down and watch the Miami Heat win the NBA Championship (all catastrophic events from my point of view), but one YouTube clip of these guys and you’d see my frown turn upside down. Will Spider-Man Be Amazing? Biff Bam Pop’s Box Office Predictions

This weekend sees the release of the much-hyped (over-hyped?) Amazing Spider-Man 2, which is sure to top the box office. What sort of money will it bring in? Here’s our prediction:

The_Amazing_Spiderman_2_posterThe previous Spider-Man film did just “ok” business in North America, grossing $262, a far cry from the $400 million + from the first film, and the over $300 million for the second and third. For the past year, there’s been preview after preview after preview; while I love the character, it was even a bit much for me. Finally, this new release is currently listed as “rotten”  at Rotten Tomatoes (I’ve seen it, its not rotten, but it’s not great either). Will any of that stop audiences from turning out opening weekend? No way. For this weekend at least, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is critic proof, and no doubt has a built in audience eager to see the wall-crawler once more time. Look for it bring in $95 million.
