There’s only one new film going into wide release this weekend, which means that we should see a fairly static top five. The question then is, can Brad Pitt’s latest make any sort of impact? Here’s our prediction:
The ladies love Brad Pitt, and so do more than a few gents, which could bring in an audience to Killing Them Softly. Pitt plays a hitman in the film, based on a 1974 novel Cogan’s Trade, and is surrounded by some solid talent, including James Gandolfini, Ray Liotta and Richard Jenkins. This is one of those smaller flicks that Pitt likes to do in between the larger blockbuster film he’s often attached to, so Killing Them Softly will likely open comparatively light compared to some of his other films, but it could maintain steam heading into the holidays. Look for a fourth place showing with $11 million.
Find out how the rest of the top five will shape up after the jump!
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 should manage to hold on to the top spot at the box office again this weekend with $20 million. Skyfall will be close behind with $18.5 million. Lincoln will continue to play well, winding up in third with $15 million, while Rise Of The Guardians will likely eek its way to fifth with $9.5 million.
So, to recap, here are our predictions:
1) The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 – $20 million
2) Skyfall – $18.5 million
3) Lincoln – $15 million
4) Killing Them Softly – $11 million
5) Rise Of The Guardians – $9.5 million
Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
