Good things come in small packages, right? Well if you’re into e-readers, there’s truth in advertising with the brand new Kobo Mini. It’s small enough to tuck away while travelling but large enough to keep you reading wherever you go.
Find out why it might be the right choice for you this holiday season after the jump!
There are a lot new Kobo devices on the market this holiday season, including the Glo and the Arc, which is replacing the companies failed tablet attempt, the Vox. All of them have their merits, but if you’re looking for easy to put in your pocket, purse or knapsack, you can’t get much better than the Mini.
The Kobo Mini has a no glare screen and the great E-Ink which makes reading on e-readers easy; it’s that close to resembling the ink you’ll find in a regular hardcover or paperback. It also has Wi-Fi, which gives you access to the over one million books you can find in the Kobo online store (including Strange World: A Biff Bam Pop Short Story Anthology). Having the Wi-Fi is a huge plus and makes shopping for something to read simpler than some of the first gen readers from a few years ago. As for battery life, the specs say that you can go a month without a charge if you turn that Wi-Fi off. So load up and you’re good to go for an extended period.
The size is the thing with this reader; the screen measures 5″, which is as described – mini. That means your reader is going to take up minimal space, which is great, if that’s what you’re in the market for. You can adjust font size so you can get the most out of the reading space – and while it might seem a little too small for a moment, if you’re simply reading novels you’ll adjust pretty darn quickly.
We’ve had a few Kobo’s pass through our house over the last two years, but the Mini is the first one I’ve heard my wife actually say “wow” about. For those of us that commute and want to read a good novel on the bus or subway, or even a beach vacation, the Kobo Mini is the way to go, which is why it makes Biff Bam Pop’s Holiday Gift Guide.
