On paper, I’m sure Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem looked like the “Xenomorphs on Earth” movie fans had been clamoring for since Ripley shot one of the bastards out of the airlock back in 1979. It is not that.
It’s difficult to conceive of a Predator movie without an actual Predator, but that’s exactly what you get in the 1988 Italian action movie, Robowar.
This week at BBP we’re counting down to the release of Shane Black’s The Predator by examining the history of the franchise. Today I’m going to look at Predator 2, one of the least loved sequels in history.
Alien vs. Predator sounded like one of the greatest crossover events in sci-fi horror history. But while there is a lot to love in this movie, AvP had an inherent fatal flaw that it could not overcome.
Predators offered a great twist on the story; instead of the Predator coming to Earth to hunt humans, we learn they are kidnapping the most dangerous humans they can find and bringing them to their world for hunting in a massive game reserve.
