The trailers for the film have been absolutely astounding; the build up to the conflict between two favourite heroes, riveting; and the fan excitement level, at al all-time peak.
As the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Phase Three, Captain America: Civil War should form the basis for the plethora of Marvel films to come. That extensive list includes this fall’s Doctor Strange, next year’s Thor: Ragnarok and Spider-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and then Captain Marvel among others. Wrapping up the phase will be the two-part extravaganza: Avengers: Infinity War.
And if you know Marvel Comics, and are a fan of these Marvel movies, then you’re looking for Easter Eggs – those hidden gems of story, characters or incidents that only the most educated of the educated know about.
We here at Biff Bam Pop! love talking about them. That’s what this article is for: Easter Egg wants. Our wishes. Our desires. And like good ‘ol Cap, we could do this all day.
Here, then, are the Easter Eggs that four Biff Bam Pop! writers (and Marvel Cinematic Universe enthusiasts) want to see in the highly anticipated blockbuster film.
Give them a read and then tell us what your Easter Egg wants are, fan-boys and fan-girls!
That’s what happened two weeks ago in this very column, when I anxiously suggested that Avengers #44, the last issue of the acclaimed series, was the one comic book you had to run out and get!
Problem is, that issue got pushed back by Marvel Comics to…today’s date.
I still stand by that issue – and that you should make the run today to pick it up. You can read all about why you should do that right here. But today it’s joined by its sister comic book: New Avengers #33 – also the last issue of the series! You see, everything’s leading to a cataclysmic conclusion – for both our heroes and the entire Marvel universe!
Follow me after the jump for some not-so-secret but still great news!
This week on “Marvel’s Avengers Assemble,” we have a spotlight on Hawkeye and the Black Widow. If you’ve read my reviews here at Biff Bam Pop!, you know how I feel about how criminally neglected I think the Black Widow has been in this series. This espionage outing into Atlantis is a nice change of pace. Meet me after the jump for my thoughts on “Beneath the Surface.”
Ever feel like you’ve lost your mind?
I’m not talking about the going “crazy” kind of mind loss, but the kind where you become overly forgetful about things you should easily remember. Maybe it’s brought on by stress, or seriously heavy time constraints, or a “to do” list in your head that’s as long as…as long as…what was that saying again?
Well, imagine that happening to a beloved superhero. Imagine that the reason for his forgetfulness is due to him not agreeing with a plan of action to save the world from his superhero friends. Imagine his friends wiping his mind in order for him to even forget the plan they are enacting.
Now, imagine that beloved superhero suddenly remembering! What next?
If you read my review of last night’s episode of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” you not only know that the series has finally hit its groove, and some of the mysteries running through the show have begun to break. You also know that a couple of our writers here at Biff Bam Pop! have a steak dinner bet going about what that blue alien really is. What do you think? We’ll explore a few of the theories after the jump.
Who out there is so hard-core into comics, that, amidst all the hustle-bustle of last minute Christmas shopping and getting ready for family dinners, they’re still hitting their local comic book shop today?
Nice! Kudos to you, my friend! You’re the very reason I’m writing this column!
But it being Christmas Eve, it’s slim pickings today for new comics, a day earlier than they’d normally be released. Still, there’s one title, hot off of an “Infinity” of tent-pole crossovers, that you just need to be reading this holiday season.
Follow me after the jump and I’ll quickly tell you what’s what!
For the last five months or so, Jonathan Hickman’s Avengers-focused mega-event Infinity has been the talk of the Marvel Comics Universe. This week it comes to an end as the Avengers fight Thanos and his Black Order, and the winner takes the Earth. Get ready, and meet me after the jump for my thoughts on Infinity #6 and New Avengers #12.
Outer space, we’re told, has no boundaries. It goes on and on with uncountable moons, stars, nebulae and things we have yet to perceive plaintively trying to fill it. Time is that way too, endless, especially on Wednesday mornings when waiting for the local comic book shop to open at 11 a.m.
Tie those two together, space and time, and you begin to understand the vast scope of the year-long wait for a space-faring epic adventure, by an acclaimed writer firing on all cylinders, featuring some of the greatest superheroes mankind has ever known!
Of course, there’s one other boundless and important element that comes to mind when speaking of this narrative: evil. Sheer, unadulterated evil.
Finally released today, the new summer blockbuster, world-shattering, dimension-blowing, epic mini-series from Marvel Comics, aptly titled Infinity, has all of your infinite essentials in spades!
I don’t know if it’s a champagne hangover I’m currently sporting or if it’s one brought on by comic books.
Between Christmas gifts and Boxing Day sales, I’ve been reading a lot of sequential art in my free time over the last seven days. Perhaps you have too! But Wednesday, January 2, 2013 is the first “new comics” release date of the brand new year and, like every other Wednesday, there’s something that has me raising a quizzical eye and more than a little excited at storytelling possibilities.
And yeah, you need to get it NOW!
The confrontation between Marvel Comics’ two biggest franchises, and their two biggest superhero teams, was the event of the summer, and the do-not-miss maxi-series that changed the status quo of the Marvel Universe. Yes, the Avengers versus the X-Men – AvsX – was the big one this year.
If you missed it, or if you didn’t, there’s an amazing way to relive all the action you did and didn’t see, with this edition of Biff Bam Pop’s Holiday Gift Guide. We’ll check out the AvsX Hardcover Edition after the jump.
