Quench Your Superhero Horror Thirst With ‘Blood Hunt #1’ On The Wednesday Run

The cold weather and miserably long season of late and dreary winter is finally turning. That means more time outside on sun-bathed patios, hot dogs at the ballpark and hipster-neighbourhood window shopping.

If you’ve been reading comic books for any length of time, that also means warm-weather comic book event crossover.

Well, “warm” being the operative word today. And that’s not because of what the seasons of spring and summer generally bring. No, that would be “warm” as in warm-blooded. This comic book event crossover (a regular tradition since the mid-1980s with the famous Crisis on Infinite Earths and Secret Wars via the big two publishers, DC Comics and Marvel Comics), brings us readers the thirsty fanged incisors of vampires!

That’s right! Vampires is what the Marvel Comics miniseries Blood Hunt is all about! And hot damn aren’t they about to take over the Marvel Universe!

Written by Jed MacKay (Avengers, Vengeance of the Moon Knight, Doctor Strange) and illustrated by Pepe Larraz (House of X/Powers of X, X-Men: Hellfire Gala), Blood Hunt is a five-issue series, long foretold in Marvel Comics lore (and an eagerly anticipated publication referenced over the last few months in marketing terms).

Marvel Comics has a long and storied history with both vampiric protagonists (Blade) and antagonists (Dracula). Within the pages of the publishers comics, vampires have routinely taken center stage – a dark and furtive and entirely evil cabal, secretly awaiting an eternal night to satisfy their every growing bloodlust.

Well, eternal night has finally come!

In Blood Hunt, the vampires have all risen. Led by a new and vicious, shadowy cadre of villains named Cruel, Smoke Eater, Megrim, Damascene, Unusual and the truly monstrous Bloodstorm One – a Hydra-created clone of Dracula! Only the earth’s greatest heroes: the Avengers, X-Men, Doctor Strange, Blade, Spider-Man and more, can stand in their way of total subjugation of mankind.

Although Blood Hunt itself is the main five-part tale, the story expands in various tie-in monthly Marvel comic book titles, multiple spin-off miniseries featuring different superheroes and even one-offs. It’s a big feast…for vampires and fans of the Marvel Universe characters! To aid with marketing, you can also pick up promo trading cards and vampire teeth at participating comic book shops. How’s that for blood lust excitement?

Dash…and then hungrily dine at your local conic book shop and pick up Blood Hunt #1 today!
