Once again Doctor Who explores a mystery from the pages of history itself, what happened to Legio IX Hispana? As The Doctor and Bill and Nardole journey back to second century Scotland to find the Ninth Roman Legion, they discover a more sinister threat awaits them. Meet me after the time jump for my thoughts on “The Eaters of Light.”
With Ronan the Accuser out of the picture, Nova Corps is tracking the next second-in-command to Thanos. They’ve narrowed it down to three people – Nebula, Korath the Pursuer, and… Gamora. This is news to Gamora’s teammates in “Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.” Meet me after the jump for my thoughts on “The Backstabbers.”
Today we’re looking backward at “Doctor Who,” not just back to the David Tennant era, but back to the Rose Tyler era. We’re looking at an early episode by current showrunner Steven Moffat that seems to have many connections to the current season. Meet me after the jump for my thoughts on “The Girl in the Fireplace.”
Since the return of the “Doctor Who” television series in 2005, the annual Christmas evening specials have become a tradition, and most often, a major event in the continuity of the series. This Christmas is no different, even in an already exciting year for Who fans the world over. Tonight, Matt Smith regenerates into Peter Capaldi, and all of the loose ends surrounding the Eleventh Doctor and his demise come to fruition. Tonight, we have been promised, all will be revealed. Join me, after the jump for my thoughts on “The Time of The Doctor!”
Four stories into the post-Pond seventh season of “Doctor Who,” and it’s been quite a ride so far. We’ve had a companion who may not be what she appears to be, the return of two old school villains, a dozen new aliens, an anti-grav motorcycle, and a possible Bad Wolf reference. Can it get better than that?
There’ve also been movie homages to Hellraiser, Star Wars, and The Hunt for Red October. What’s next? Would you believe… The Haunting? That’s what the preview implies… Check me after the jump for my review of episode ten – “Hide.”
Anyone who saw the preview last week for this week’s episode of “Doctor Who” might have had the same thought – on no, it’s the Doctor vs. the Cenobites, disco Cenobites. Well, not quite, but I am sure that The Vigil do shop at the same fabulous boutique as the Hellraiser crew however. My spoiler-filled recap and review of “The Rings of Akhaten,” perhaps more fashion discussion, and much, much more, when you join me after the jump.
The Doctor returns for the second half of the seventh season of the new series. Companionless, this time he is actively seeking a companion, a young lady who has shown up in his life twice before, as two different people… or did she? Add in a threat from the wireless internet to all mankind, and we’ve got a great start to the rest of the season. Check out my review of “The Bells of Saint John,” right after the jump.
