Doctor Who: The Return of Doctor Mysterio

adoc1

We have been bereft of new Doctor Who for an entire year (“The Power of the Daleks” doesn’t count), since the last Christmas special, “The Husbands of River Song,” a madcap and bittersweet conclusion to the River Song saga. To trump that adventure, showrunner Steven Moffat pulls a new rabbit from his hat – Doctor Who does superheroes. Meet me after the jump for my thoughts on “The Return of Doctor Mysterio.”

We have been given a very cool early Christmas present this year from the folks at Doctor Who. For the last few weeks on BBC America, and some time ago in select theaters, a new animation of a classic lost series of The Doctor battling the Daleks was created from surviving audio of the episodes. For the first time in fifty years, we can witness “The Power of the Daleks,” meet me after the jump for my review.

Holiday Gift Guide 2016: A Cuppa Fandom

When temperatures drop and there’s a nip in the air, there’s nothing better than curling up under a cozy blanket with a nice cup of tea. This year, instead of giving friends and family just any old tea, give them a tea inspired by their favorite fandom from Adagio Teas. They have tea blends for almost every fandom.

Since winter has actually come, sip on a variety of Game of Thrones blends.

If  you’re particularly fond of that special geeky guy or gal, you can head to Society 6 where they have numerous mugs to match that perfect fandom tea.

Doctor Who S09 E12: Hell Bent

Remember that old rule? You know the one. “The Doctor lies.” It’s not just him. It’s his heritage. It’s his people. Just because The Doctor comes from the Time Lords of Gallifrey, some new schoolers might guess that the Time Lords are the good guys. Not true. The Time Lords are among The Doctor’s greatest enemies. They lie, don’t forget this. They fear him. Proof positive, meet me after the jump for my thoughts on “Hell Bent.”

With Clara Oswald presumed dead (don’t count your chickens, or ravens, and all that), and The Doctor captured and sold to a mysterious enemy, then teleported away, things are not looking good for the multi-part end of a “Doctor Who” season that has been almost all cliffhangers. With this episode, we may be looking at the biggest one yet. Meet me after the time and space jump for my thoughts on “Heaven Sent.”

Doctor Who S09 E08: The Zygon Inversion

Things looked quite grim at the end of last week’s episode of “Doctor Who.” An insurgency in the 20 million Zygons living in hiding among the human race has endangered all involved, be they human, Zygon, or Time Lord. Clara and Kate Lethbridge-Stewart are possibly dead, with the evil Bonnie blowing up The Doctor’s plane with a rocket launcher – what next? Find out after the time and space jump, in my review of “The Zygon Inversion.”
