doc1

With the Davros diversion behind him, and Missy/The Master off cavorting with the Supreme Dalek back in time, we are somewhat back to status quo with “Doctor Who.” That is if we ignore the news of an upcoming new spin-off called “Class” about the kids at the Coal Hill School, we can go back to running around time and space with The Doctor and Clara. Meet me after the time and space jump when Biff Bam Pop’s 31 Days of Horror crosses over with “Doctor Who” and our heroes face ghosts “Under the Lake.”

Doctor Who” showrunner Steven Moffat certainly knows how to launch a series with a cliffhanger. When last we saw The Doctor and his unconventional entourage, things were looking very bad indeed. Doctor Who S08 E11: Dark Water

Doctor Who Series 8

We have been wonder, theorizing, and arguing internet style since the beginning of the eighth season “Doctor Who” about who the mysterious Missy is. Answers range from a female regeneration of The Master, my favorite The Rani, Romana, River Song, Clara herself, or a completely new menace. Now, in the penultimate chapter of this season, we may well discover the answer. Watch out for Cybermen, and meet me after the jump for my thoughts on the first part of the season finale, “Dark Water!”

Doctor Who S08 E05: Time Heist

Reaction to the first four episodes of the new Peter Capaldi Doctor has been lukewarm to say the least. While he has been fun, and vastly different from recent Doctors, other factors have been less than stellar. And the mysteries of Missy and Danny Pink have been generating much discussion, but there’s also the question of last week’s “Listen.” Some folks have been saying it’s one of the best episodes of “Doctor Who” in years, and others believe it’s just one more reason to lynch showrunner Steven Moffat up in the street. No matter what you thought of it, you can check out my thoughts on this week’s “Time Heist,” after the jump.

The meeting of heroes is always a cool event. Whether it’s Alien and Predator, Frankenstein and the Wolfman, or Superman and Batman, it’s always fun (and in the case of that last one, we hope it still will be…). Here in the third episode of Peter Capaldi’s run in the lead role of “Doctor Who,” we have The Doctor meeting Robin Hood, and things are not as we thought. Ha, they are never what we think, with The Doctor. Meet me after the jump for my thoughts on “Robot of Sherwood.”

Doctor Who S08 E02: Into the Dalek

doc1

Last time, we met The Doctor, as played by Peter Capaldi, but as with most regeneration episodes of “Doctor Who,” they’re all about getting back on their feet. You usually don’t see what the new Doctor is all about until his second episode – and this one is a doozy! Right out of the box, The Doctor and Clara run up against his archenemies – The Daleks! Meet me after the jump for my thoughts on “Into the Dalek.”

Doctor Who S08 E01: Deep Breath

Finally the wait is over. Several months after the end of the Matt Smith era back in “The Time of the Doctor,” the new era with Peter Capaldi as The Doctor begins. What kind of Doctor will he be? What kind of adventures will he have? It all begins with a great Jurassic roar over the streets of Victorian London, as we enter an exciting new chapter in the history of “Doctor Who.” Meet me after the jump for the first episode of Series Eight, “Deep Breath.”
