Will Audiences Go “Rogue One” This Weekend?

What a silly question, right? Of course audiences are going rogue this weekend. The only question that matters is how much money will the new Star Wars film bring in. Here’s our prediction:

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the first standalone film in the venerable franchise. That means this story and these characters are one and done. No sequel. No prequel. And, perhaps most importantly, no Princess Leia or Luke Skywalker – you’ll have to wait until next year for their return in Episode VIII. Even still, the trailers have made it clear that Rogue One will have an appearance by Darth Vader, as it tells the story of the rebels who steal the plans for the original Death Star. While the hunger for new Star Wars product was satiated last year with The Force Awakens, there’s no doubt that Rogue One will still find a huge audience this weekend. Look for a first place debut with $165 million.
