Godzilla roared load and proud this weekend at the box office, making his might felt with an absolutely stellar opening weekend. Here’s what went down:
In a showing that surprised all us pundits, Godzilla had a huge opening weekend, bringing in $93 million. Clearly, the trailers helped sell this ones to audiences, while reviews have been overall kind, hopefully wiping out the memory of the 1998 disaster. The film is only going to have one week on top of the box office, sop hopefully the King of the Monsters will enjoy the brief reign.
As for the rest of the top five, Neighbors dropped just 47% to land at number two with $26 million. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 continues its free fall, bringing in $16.8 million to claim the third spot. Million Dollar Arm debut in fourth place with $10.5 million, while The Other Woman closed things out in fifth with $6.3 million.
