The Flash S02 E19: Back to Normal

fla1

With his super speed stolen by Zoom, Barry Allen is still a hero – but he’s more a police scientist in a red suit than the Flash. Still he’s going to try to stop new villain Griffin Grey, with or without his speed. Does the Flash have what it takes? Find out after the jump, in my review of “Back to Normal.”

Batlad v. Superboy: The Silver Age Dawn of Justice

abat1

The film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice isn’t be the first time the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel have met for the ‘first’ time, and be assured it won’t be the last either. I’m going to talk about one of those first times, one that dates back to when Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne were teenagers. It’s not in continuity now, and quite honestly, probably wasn’t then either, but join me after the jump for a tale of fate and destiny, and what happens when you mess with it – Batlad v Superboy: Silver Age Dawn of Justice.

The Ben Affleck Batman

There is so much controversy over just some simple casting. You would have thought a comedian had been cast as the Dark Knight. Just like in 1989. Like it or not, Ben Affleck will be playing Batman in the upcoming Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice. See images new and old, after the jump.

Man Of Steel Soars Top The Top – Biff Bam Pop’s Weekend Box Office Wrap-Up Report

It was the weekend of the comeback from Superman, as Man Of Steel took flight for a stellar opening. Here’s what went down:

Superman ArrestedAfter years of hype and excitement, Man Of Steel hit theatres with more power than a locomotive, soaring to the top of the box office with an estimate $113 million. Any opening of $100 million is always stellar, and coming off the perceived lacklustre response to 2006’s Superman Returns ($52 million opening weekend), the reinvention of the character by Zack Snyder, Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer clearly resonated with audiences. Man Of Steel should have no problem making between $250-$300 million, and has given the DC film world a sensational shot in the arm.

Will Man Of Steel Fly? Biff Bam Pop’s Box Office Predictions

This weekend sees yet another cinematic reboot of one of the greatest characters in pop culture history. Believe, over the next three days, we’ll believe a man can fly to the top of the box office. Here’s our prediction:

Man Of SteelProduced by Christopher Nolan and directed by Zack Snyder, Man of Steel is the first Superman film since 2006’s Superman Returns, a movie that made over $200 million in North America but that failed to engage the imagination of audiences. With Man of Steel, the creative team goes back to the beginning, giving us the origin of Clark Kent as he tries to find his place on Earth. Hype is huge, and the steady stream of increasingly excellent trailers has helped create an unprecedented buzz for Man of Steel. Look for the film to have an amazing weekend, as it is guaranteed to outperform Superman Returns by a long shot. Look for a first place showing with $135 million.

Find out how the rest of the weekend will turn out after the jump!

Trailer Time: Man Of Steel

Last night on the Biff Bam Popcast (check it out here if you missed it), JP Fallavollita, Jason Shayer, Glenn Walker and I got into a serious discussion about the trailers for next year’s Man of Steel from director Zack Snyder. I’m of the mind that Snyder, though tremendously capable, is more style than substance, and I worry that’s all he’ll be bringing to the table. Alternately, Christopher Nolan will be producing the film, so hopefully he’ll help rein in any of Snyder’s foibles.

Two trailers have been released – each with the same visual but with varying narration; one features Kevin Costner’s Jonathan Kent, the other Russel Crowe’s Jor-El. We’d love to know what you think of them. As well, we’ve also got leaked footage from the Comic-Con Man of Steel panel; it’s rough, but gives you more images to whet your appetite. You can watch them all after the jump!
