Just so we don’t go cold turkey with our Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD addiction, ABC has provided us with a new digital-only series for the winter break – Slingshot. Not only do we get a spotlight on Yo-Yo (Slingshot is actually her character’s name in the comics, and she’s quickly become one of my favorite characters on the show), but we also get a bit of fill-in on what happened during the time between seasons three and four. Meet me after the jump, for my thoughts on Slingshot, the digital series.
With the Red Hulk turned into a “perfect weapon” by the Leader last episode, the Avengers, without their own Hulk, have to stop the bigger, badder, and hotter Rulk by themselves. Meet me after the jump for my thoughts on the latest episode of Avengers: Ultron Revolution – “World War Hulk!”
Can vengeance be contained? After a few clashes with Quake, the Ghost Rider comes flaming face to face with the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. What is his secret, and what about the ghosts of the Momentum Lab? Worse than that, how are the Watchdogs getting info on the Inhumans? Meet me after the jump for my thoughts on “Let Me Stand Next to Your Fire!”
There are a lot of concepts flying around in this episode of Avengers: Ultron Revolution, from the appearance of the second Black Widow, to the Natasha/Hulk relationship, to the re-emergence of Hydra as a major threat to the Avengers. It seems the comics, animation, and cinematic universes converge on this one. Meet me after the jump for my thoughts on “Seeing Double.”
Last weekend, the next of the big large-popcorn, comic book superhero, cinematic-universe-builder blockbusters dropped into movie theaters everywhere – Captain America: Civil War! How did it stand up to the other dozen Marvel movies, or even that other superhero fight flick, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice? Something tells me it did a little better than that latter film…
Based on the celebrated Marvel Comics mini-series Civil War, this culmination of the first twelve Marvel films pits six of Marvel’s greatest superheroes against six other of Marvel’s greatest superheroes. This is it, folks, the big one. What did we think of it? Let’s find out.
Over the course of the day, Biff Bam Pop! writers will give their high level take on the film. Check back regularly, as more contributions are added to this post of reviews that are sure to run the gamut of praise and maybe even derision. So meet us after the jump, our reviews of Captain America: Civil War are only a giant step away…
In the days before the internet, when news travels instantaneously, and before comics companies sent press releases to media outlets of character deaths months ahead of time, there was word of mouth. The last truly OMG comics moment that traveled via word of mouth in those long ago days was the last page reveal of the Thunderbolts‘ true identities. They were heroes, hailed as such in a world then bereft of the Avengers, and then we found out who they were… the last big shock in comics. Have you figured it out? Meet me after the jump for my thoughts on “Thunderbolts Revealed.”
In the last episode of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” we bid goodbye to Bobbi and Hunter until “Marvel’s Most Wanted” shows up next season. Now can what’s left of the team deal with the homegrown terrorist threat of the Watchdogs, who want to take back the planet from the alien Inhumans? Next thing you know, some billionaire will want to build a wall in space… Meet me after the jump for my thoughts on “Watchdogs.”
The wonderful thing about writing these Holiday Gift Guide lists is that they not only help out you, the mighty reader, find that perfect gift or stocking stuffer for a pop-culture loved one, but it also helps the writer of this column (me, in this case) with loved ones picking our gifts to give (me)!
This particular Gift Guide, a short list of select movies and television shows in both Blu-Ray and DVD formats, should prove enticing. I’m betting that there’s something on this list that your loved one doesn’t have just yet. (And, if anyone is asking, I have none of these – yet!)
Now, I know we live in a digital age where film and television programming is available on demand, but it’s still nice to add that hardcopy artifact to an increasing library of hardcopy artifacts. It’ since to know that you actually own something, doesn’t it?
Plus, some of the items on this list come with…well, extras.
Without further ado, here is your first-rate, first-class, handpicked, Holiday Gift Guide 2015: Blu-Ray & DVD Selections:
The last episode of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” was a rough one with a traitor in their midst as Dr. Andrew Garner was revealed to be the Inhuman killer Lash, and his ex-wife May had to take him down. It doesn’t look like things are getting any better with Rosalind Price and the A.C.T.U. possibly working with Hydra. Meet me after the jump for my thoughts on “Many Heads, One Tale.”
