Besides making the phrase “I am Groot” part of the pop culture landscape, the great and lasting legacy of the Marvel Films will be the introduction of the “shared universe” concept. The idea that, within a series of films, hints and plot threads can be woven together to build to a bigger, bolder super film! From that first end of credits scene at the end of Iron Man, right through to the leaked trailer for Avengers: Infinity War; this has all been going somewhere. And wherever that place is, its full of money.
Netflix kicks off #Defend week with a behind the scenes featurette of our favorite street-level heroes!
Marvel’s The Defenders which premieres globally on Netflix on August 18, 2017 at 12:01am PT follows Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Danny Rand/Iron Fist (Finn Jones), a quartet of singular heroes with one common goal – to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.
Additional cast members include Academy-Award nominated actress Sigourney Weaver (Alexandra), Elodie Yung (Elektra), Scott Glenn (Stick), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), Carrie-Anne Moss (Jeri Hogarth), Rachael Taylor (Trish Walker), Eka Darville (Malcolm Ducasse), Simone Missick (Misty Knight) and Jessica Henwick (Colleen Wing).

Quake has all that too and has been pushed into the spotlight, but what makes a real hero? We may find out with this episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., after the jump, in my review of “The Patriot.”
After two seasons of Daredevil and one of Jessica Jones, do TV junkies still have room in their hearts for another member of The Defenders team? With their new series Marvel’s Luke Cage, Netflix is hoping the answer to that question is a resounding “yes.”

All through the last episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. we were teased and taunted with the identity and agenda of the new Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., now we finally get to meet him. Yesterday we showed you the key art for Netflix’s upcoming original series, Marvel’s Luke Cage. As promised, here is the series trailer!
As expected, it’s fantastic, setting Luke Cage (Mike Colter) in Harlem where he seems like he’s following the trajectory of the unwilling vigilante, much like his ex-girlfriend Jessica Jones. And speaking of ex-girlfriends, what’s going on with Luke and Claire?
That question, and many more, will be answered when the series premieres on September 30 at 12:01 a.m. PT.
