‘MLB The Show 17’ Review: Small Improvements Make This Great Game Even Better

Every year when The Show comes out, I follow the same routine: Create a new player from scratch and head into Road to the Show. This year, my mountain-man bearded, 6’4″, 220-pound first baseman from Florida (you can’t select Toronto for some reason) wasn’t doing very well in the showcase games where you get scouted for the upcoming draft. Even though he looked like a bearded hulk, he couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat and ended up being projected to go late 2nd/early 3rd round. I wasn’t happy about it, but ended up being drafted late by the Houston Astros. Then something happened. Read the rest of this entry

MLB 16: The Show – RTTS revamped and better than ever.

I play this game for one reason, mostly: Road to the Show.

I’ll be clear, Sony San Diego has added a TON of exciting new gameplay modes to MLB 16, and now that the servers are up and I can get into the other game modes I’ll get a review up for them as well as I play through them, but this review is going to focus on RTTS.

Biff Bam Pop! presents The GAR! Podcast, the Glenn Walker and Ray Cornwall weekly podcast where they talk unrehearsed about whatever happens to come to mind. It’s an audio-zine for your mind, a nerd exploration of a nerd world. True Blood S06 E09: Life Matters

Dead-Meat-Main-650x363

I would advise against wearing your Manolo Blahnik heels when visiting Vamp Camp. In last week’s episode, “Dead Meat,” Sarah Newlin used Ms. Suzuki’s (Tamlyn Tomita) heels to knock the stuffing out of her. The ever saintly, Sarah, is ready to toast some vampires, but I’m counting on Eric to save the day, especially since Bill is so inept at playing god. Is Warlow dead? Will Bill finish the job? Let’s find out after the jump. Read the rest of this entry

Saturday At The Movies: 42

It’s been out for a while, but the box office is slowing the face of juggernaut Man of Steel, so this was a good opportunity to go catch up on 42. Starring Harrison Ford, Chadwick Boseman and Nicole Beharie, to name a few, this is the biopic of baseball legend Jackie Robinson.  He’s the first African American in baseball, in case you didn’t know. Being a baseball fan myself, I wanted to see this done well and it was a perfectly fine movie. I left feeling pretty warm and fuzzy about fighting racism, doing the right thing and turning baseball into a mirror for greater society.

Mat Langford’s Gaming World – Vita Review – MLB 12: The Disappointment

Lately, I’ve been spending what little time I’ve had for gaming on MLB 12: The Show on the Vita. This is a franchise that stood out on the PS3 as being one of the best looking sports games in recent memory as well as being THE best baseball game out there.

This is why I’m so disappointed with the PS Vita iteration.
