The DC Expanded Universe is in full effect, critics be damned. But will last week’s big winner hold strong, or will it crash and burn during week two? Here are our predictions:
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has been hugely successful all week long, and has already crossed the $200 million mark in North America in just seven days. The response to the film has been genuinely controversial, as it really has become a love it or hate it experience, with very little middle ground. Insiders figure that the film has got to make $1 billion around the world for it to actually be profitable, so the amount the movie drops from last week to this week is actually going to be important. On that note, I have a feeling we’re going to see a fairly steep drop for Batman V Superman. Look for it to pull in $60 million as it holds on to the top spot.
As for the rest of the top five, Zootopia remains the family flick of choice for the time being, and it should be in second place with $18 million. God’s Not Dead 2 should bring in the faithful who enjoyed the 2014 original film, and debut in third place with $16 million. My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 will be in fourth place with $11 million, while The Divergent Series: Allegiant will close things out in fifth place with $8 million.
So, to recap, here are our predictions:
1) Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice – $60 million
2) Zootopia – $18 million
3) God’s Not Dead 2 – $16 million
4) My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 – $11 million
5) The Divergent Series: Allegiant – $8 million

It’s going to be an interesting few days! 🙂
