Alright, it’s down to the wire for you if you’re still looking for gift ideas for the pop culture geek in your life. If you’re really feeling indecisive, just go grab a gift card to iTunes or Amazon or Kobo and say Merry Christmas. However, if there’s a gamer in your life, we’ve got a suggestion that’s a sure fire hit. Out of all the games out there on the store shelves, only one game rules them all.
And it features Lego!
From Warner Brothers Games comes Lego Lord of The Rings, an adaptation of the Peter Jackson films done in the inimitable Lego video game fashion. A sense of humour abounds, as does a somewhat open world, myriad characters to unlock and endless replayability. Following in the footsteps of the previous Lego game, Batman 2, LLOTR features dialogue lifted straight from Jackson’s original trilogy. Some purists prefer the original Lego games like Star Wars, where voice work is substituted with grunts from the given characters. Personally, I love hearing the voices come from the Lego versions of Gandalf, Frodo et all.
I’ve played quite a few Lego video games, and I’m confident in saying from a visual perspective, LLOTR is the best. The first ten minutes of the game are absolutely stunning and well worth the price of admission alone. I’m hardly a Lord Of The Rings fanatic, but I was immediately immersed in Middle-Earth when playing this game on the PS3. I think casual and hardcore gamers alike can find much to love with Lego Lord Of The Rings.
