It’s the last weekend of 2017, but there are no new releases hitting theaters, which means clear sailing for the film that’s going to wind up the biggest of the year. How will the four-day weekend turn out? Here’s our prediction:
Star Wars: The Last Jedi will have no problem holding on to the top spot at the box office for a third weekend in as row. Look for it to score $80 million over the four-day long weekend, bringing its haul to well over $500 million.
Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle is proving to be a solid hit for the season. Look for it to land in second place with $65 million, on its way to a likely $200+ million haul.
As for the rest of the top five, Pitch Perfect 3 will be in third with $30 million. The Great Showman will follow it in fourth with $16 million, which Ferdinand will close thing out in fifth place with $14 million.
So, to recap, here are our predictions:
1) Star Wars: The Last Jedi – $80 million
2) Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle – $65 million
3) Pitch Perfect 3 – $30 million
4) The Great Showman – $16 million
5) Ferdinand – $14 million
