X-Men Days Of Future Past’s Time Is Now – Biff Bam Pop’s Box Office Predictions

This weekend sees the release of my most anticipated film of the summer, and if things go as planned, it will score a huge opening. Here’s my prediction:

X-Men_Days_of_Future_Past_posterX-Men: Days of Future Past marks the return of Bryan Singer to the X-fold director’s chair, and he brings with him the actors he first cast in the first two X-Men films. The comic book story that this film is based on is an epic story of time travel, as mutants struggle to prevent a Judgement Day-like event. Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, Ian McKellen, James McAvoy, Patrick Stewart, Jennifer Lawrence, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore – this combination of timelines and casts is unlike anything done before, and that includes The Avengers. Hype is huge and reviews are stellar, which is going to translate to an awesome debut for the film. Look for a first place showing with $120 million.

As for the rest of the top five, Godzilla will drop to number two with $50 million, as the King of Monsters continues a strong showing. Blended, the new Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore flick, should serve as decent counter programming, and debut in third place with $23 million. Neighbors will hit fourth place with $18 million, while The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will close things out in fifth with $13 million.

So, to recap, here are our predictions:

1) X-Men: Days of Future Past – $120 million
2) Godzilla – $50 million
3) Blended – $23 million
4) Neighbors – $18 million
5) The Amazing Spider-Man 2 – $13 million

Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out.
