‘Coco’ to take the top spot from ‘Justice League’

It’s the Thanksgiving Weekend in the United States, so first of all, thanks to all of readers, along with the American contingent of Biff Bam Pop! writers who do such an amazing job. This Canadian is thankful for you all.

Is there a surefire number one this weekend? In all likelihood, yes. Here’s our prediction:

Coco is a brand new film from the folks at Disney/Pixar. I should just stop right there, since that brand is all most audiences need to head to theaters. With its Day of the Dead theme, Coco has already broken records in Mexico, and with a 94% fresh rating at Rotten Tomatoes, it’s clear that this is a quality film that should appeal to audiences this weekend. Look for a first place debut with $60 million.

As for the rest of the top five, Justice League will fall to second place with $50 million. Though critics have slammed the film, audiences have been responding well, so that combined with the holiday weekend could give the JL a solid hold.

With strong word of mouth and a solid debut last weekend, Wonder will be in third place with $27 million (a rare instance where it won’t lose its audience at all, we’re predicting). Thor: Ragnarok will be in fourth place $18 million, while Murder on the Orient Express will close things out in fifth place with $16.5 million.

So, to recap, here are our predictions:

1) Coco – $60 million
2) Justice League – $50 million
3) Wonder – $27 million
4) Thor: Ragnarok – $18 million
5) Murder on the Orient Express – $16.5 million

Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
