Luke Sneyd is a writer and musician. When he isn't doing film reviews for BiffBamPop, you can bet he's gaming, or following one of his many tech obsessions. The guitarist for Toronto electro-rockers Mountain Mama in the early 2000s, Luke went solo releasing All of Us Cities (2007) and Salvo (2009). His song "The Prisoner" earned him a finalist in the Great Canadian Band Challenge in 2007. He founded Charge of the Light Brigade in 2010, releasing The Defiant Ones the following year. As a writer, he's penned and produced several short films, and with Paul Thompson wrote a zombie TV-series called Grave New World. The unproduced pilot for GNW won first place from the Page International Screenwriting awards, as well as prizes from Slamdance and the Cloud Creek People's Pilot Competition. Then this other zombie show came along. You can find links to all Luke's projects at http://about.me/lukesneyd.

Holiday Gift Guide 2015: Destiny: The Taken King vs. Halo 5: Guardians

Biff Bam Pop’s Holiday Gift Guide 2015: ‘Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection’

Sony announced a few days ago that they’ve sold over 30 million PS4 consoles. Not too shabby. What blows my mind is the Sony wags think that at least half … Continue reading Biff Bam Pop’s Holiday Gift Guide 2015: ‘Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection’

To Kill or Not to Kill? Hou Hsiao-Hsien’s The Assassin

What was your first wuxia film? Ang Lee’s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000)? Zhang Yimou’s Hero (2003), or House of Flying Daggers (2004)? Maybe an old classic, like the Shaw Brothers’ The One-Armed Swordsman (1967)? With its balletic, often on … Continue reading To Kill or Not to Kill? Hou Hsiao-Hsien’s The Assassin

31 Days of Horror 2015: Patchwork

Frankenstein’s monster is one of the true classic horror tales. It’s incredible to think that the original novel, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus appeared in 1818 (anonymously—Shelley wouldn’t lay … Continue reading 31 Days of Horror 2015: Patchwork

31 Days of Horror 2015: Tag

31 Days of Horror: Interview With TIFF’s Jesse Wente About The Mask

Film is a fragile medium. It’s easy to forget in this digital age that so much of our cinematic history is committed to old-fashioned celluloid, the plastic spools wound on … Continue reading 31 Days of Horror: Interview With TIFF’s Jesse Wente About The Mask

31 Days of Horror: Synchronicity

31 Days of Horror 2015: The Hallow

Fairies are creepy. Maybe not fairies, but certainly faeries. The fantastic creatures of celtic lore have a decided dark side, and you’re wise to give them a wide berth. In … Continue reading 31 Days of Horror 2015: The Hallow

31 Days of Horror: Toronto After Dark Film Festival

Like being scared witless? Do gouts of candy-apple-red blood sluicing across the screen make your heart beat like an overclocked dynamo? Maybe throw in a little zany comedy, too, along … Continue reading 31 Days of Horror: Toronto After Dark Film Festival
