October is a dark month, isn’t it? Not least of why this is true is because of the shortening days. Still, the seasonal darkness, wrapped tightly by the long arms of the month-end Halloween holiday, is an enthralling time to be alive.
Or, you know, dead.
There’s plenty of delicious terror hidden in the October shadows. And it’s a terror we all desire this time of year. From monsters and serial killers, to witches and warlocks, dread happily stalks all of us this Halloween season.
Somewhere, there in the back of all that fright, is a little seen fiend that packs a hell of a big punch when it comes to terror.
Finally, pushing its way forward through the long list of well-known spooks and fiends is the devil-worshipping cultist.
And that is what entices us to reach high on the comic book new-release shelves today and grab It Demands Sacrifice #1.

It Demands Sacrifice #1
Written by: Philip Gelatt & David Yarovsky
Illustrated by: Adam Pollina
Published by: Bad Idea Comics
Written by Emmy Award-winning screenwriter Philip Gelati (Love, Death & Robots) and acclaimed filmmaker David Yarovsjy (Brightburn) and kinetically illustrated by Adam Pollina (Pyrate Queen, X-Force), It Demands Sacrifice is a new 3-issue horror miniseries, published by Bad Idea Comics. The first issue is double-sized at 48-pages long and, if you’re really lucky (and first to a high-volume comic book shop today), comes with a vinyl record recording of Hollywood actors, playing out the antics of the harrowing tale!
And it’s a blood-curdling tale, indeed, heroically told by the cultist’s sacrificial offerings themselves: goats!
Well, a baby goat, to be specific. A kid, I suppose!
On a quiet farm, undercover of darkness, a knife-wielding murder cult falls upon a close-knit family of goats in order to fulfill their blood-soaked desire of raising a demon from hell. Only Bronson, the youngest and smallest member of the herd can save them all now!
Taken from the perspective of the runt of the litter, It Demands Sacrifice is full of action and knife-slashing violence, drug fuelled psychedelic depravity and heroic deeds. It’s a story perfectly made and wonderfully timed for seasonal reading.
If you’re lucky enough to get your hands on the limited-edition vinyl recording, you’ll get to hear the story played out for you, too! It features the voice talents of Hollywood’s best in Kumail Nanjiani, Krysten Ritter, David Dastmalchian, Danny Elfman and Seth Green. How’s that for a spooky tinsel-town haunting?
Whether reading or listening, we all still have to wonder: beyond the threat of the cultists themselves, what exactly is the “It” that demands sacrifice?
Hand in hand, page by page, let’s find out together.
Make the run to your local comic book shop and pick up the murderously great first issue of It Demands Sacrifice today!
