‘Hustlers’ Debuts Strong, ‘IT: Chapter 2’ Holds At #1

It was a strong weekend at the box office, as Hustlers made an impact, even if it wouldn’t take down the reigning champ.

IT: Chapter Two held on to the top spot for the second weekend in a row, bringing in a better than expected $40.7 million. The sequel now sits at $153 million in North America, and should have little trouble crossing the $200 million mark before the end of its theatrical run.

Debuting in second place is Hustlers with $33 million, a career best for Jennifer Lopez. The buzz at TIFF and the strong reviews certainly helped this one find an audience, and it will be interesting to see if the film has legs over the coming weeks.

As for the rest of the top five, Angel Has Fallen was in third place with $4.4 million. Good Boys was right behind it in fourth place with $4.2 million, while Disney’s The Lion King closed things out in fifth place with $3.5 million.
