‘Disney’s The Lion King’ Will Have No Worries at the Box Office This Weekend

It’s going to be a big weekend at the box office, as Disney’s latest live-action/CGI adaptation of one of their classic animated movies arrives. Will it feel the love from audiences?

So far, critics have been down on director Jon Favreau’s version of The Lion King, with a common thought that film lacks the heart and soul of the animated original. I don’t think that’s going to matter too much to audiences, though; these new versions of Disney films are guaranteed moneymakers, and with names like Beyonce and Donald Glover attached, a first-place showing is 100% assured, regardless of what the critics say. Look for The Lion King to roar with a debut of $185 million.

As for the rest of the top five, Spider-Man: Far From Home will drop to second place with $23 million. Toy Story 4 will be in third place with $14 million, followed in fourth place by Yesterday with $6.5 million. Crawl will close things out in fifth place with $6 million.

So, to recap, here are our predictions:

1) Disney’s The Lion King -$185 million
2) Spider-Man: Far From Home – $23 million
3) Toy Story 4 – $14 million
4) Yesterday – $6.5 million
5) Crawl – $6 million

Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
