‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ Swings Into Theaters

It’s the 4th of July weekend for our friends in the United States, and we’re guessing a lot of folks will be heading to the theatres to see our favourite wall-crawler head overseas.

In Spider-Man: Far From Home, Peter Parker and his classmates head to Europe for a science trip, where they come across a new hero named Mysterio. Tom Holland returns as Spidey, alongside faves Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Zendaya and Jacob Batalan, while Jake Gyllenhaal makes his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Mysterio. The film has been getting rave reviews, including from our own E.A. Henson (I agree with everything he said, btw), and in the wake of Avengers: Endgame, should have an extremely strong weekend, especially after netting $39 million this past Tuesday to a record July/Tuesday debut. Taking into account its early-week arrival, look for a $101 million haul for the three-day weekend.

By the way, if you’re going to Far From Home this weekend, DO NOT LEAVE before the mid and end credits. They’re fantastic!

As for the rest of the top five, Toy Story 4 will drop to second place with $35 million. Yesterday will be in third place with $10 million, with Disney’s Aladdin right behind it in fourth with $8.5 million. Finally, Ari Aster’s critically acclaimed new horror flick Midsommar will close things out in fifth place with $7 million.

So, to recap, here are our predictions:

1) Spider-Man: Far From Home – $101 million
2) Toy Story 4 – $35 million
3) Yesterday – $10 million
4) Disney’s Aladdin – $8.5 million
5) Midsommar – $7 million

Check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
