Jordan Peele’s ‘Us’ to Scare Up A Big Debut This Weekend

After two weeks on top of the box office, Captain Marvel is going to have to make way for the latest film from the new master of horror.

Following the box office and Oscar-winning success of his first film, Get Out, writer/director Jordan Peele returns with his new horror flick, Us. Reviews have already been outstanding, withe the film currently sitting at 94% fresh at Rotten Tomatoes. The movie stars Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke, and word on the street is that Us is seriously scary (you can read our review here). Seeing as how its been a while since audiences have been served with a must-see horror movie, and combined with so much good will out there for Peele, there’s little question that the movie is going to open big. Look for a first place debut for Us with $55 million.

As for the rest of the top five, Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel will drop to second place with $36 million. Wonder Park will be in third place with $8 million, with Five Feet Apart behind it in fourth place with $6 million. How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World will close things out in fifth place with $5.5 million.

So, to recap, here are our predictions:

1) Us – $55 million
2) Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel – $36 million
3) Wonder Park – $8 million
4) Five Fee Apart – $6 million
5) How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World – $5.5 million

Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
