Worldwide interest in Marvel’s Avengers group of superheroes couldn’t possibly be any higher at the moment.
$258 million bucks at the box office for the opening weekend of Avengers: Infinity War, the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe film, is proof in the proverbial pudding. It’s the largest box-office opening in cinematic history – in this universe or any other!
And it was a great movie!
With all that fanfare, Marvel Comics, the publisher that started it all in the fall of 1963, saw fit to re-start the monthly comic book series with a brand new first issue.
Right now, the just released Avengers #1 makes for good business!

I mean how can it not? Everyone in the world has either seen Avengers: Infinity War, is going to see it, or is going to see it again. It’s making all the money.
Couple that demand and enthusiasm with an exciting new first issue, and you’ve got a recipe for continued success on your hands. First issues always get a raised eyebrow and a sales bump. But what we’re going to get with Avengers #1 – globally – is unprecedented. That’s what you get when the distribution of a film studio correctly plays with the intellectual property of its parent company.
But it’s also what you get when you pair two of comicdom’s most acclaimed talents together: prolific writer Jason Aaron (Scalped, Southern Bastards, Original Sins, Thanos Rising, Wolverine and the X-Men) and Illustrator Ed McGuinness (Deadpool, Hulk, Superman/Batman: Public Enemies).
In Avengers #1, the big three reunite: Thor, Captain America and Iron Man. And, of course, they need to assemble together in order to defeat their most powerful enemies. The earth is on the brink of annihilation at the hands of the 2000 foot tall gods known as the Celestials.
All looks hopeless!
But the Norse God, Steve Rogers and Tony Stark are not alone. They’ve got the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes beside them in Captain Marvel, Black Panther, She-Hulk and Ghost Rider!
Come along with the sense-shattering ride! Make the Wednesday run to your local comic book shop today and pick up Avengers #1! Let’s keep the global momentum – and heroism – going!
