BBP! Guide To Fan Expo Canada 2017: Day 1 Of #FXC17
Let’s run through your pre-game checklist:
- A hardy breakfast and lunch
- Comfortable shoes
- A backpack
- A visit to the cash machine
- Your list of pop-culture themed heart’s desires
If you haven’t got those five items checked off yet, what are you waiting for? This is Day 1! You plan to make it through to Day 2, don’t you???
Follow us down pop culture lane! Biff Bam Pop! is making it’s way to the Metropolitan Toronto Convention Centre and, between the hours of 4 PM and 9 PM today, there are a number of things to do and see…and tips you need to know.
Let’s not dally another minute…here we go!
One of the great things about any pop culture convention like Fan Expo Canada 2017, is that there are a number of items that are exclusive to the con for the collector in all of us: comics, models, toys, mugs, shirts, etc. Funny thing is, they have a habit of selling out. Make sure you scan the list of this years set of exclusives right here…but don’t forget that many booths will be featuring their own!
Here are some of the exclusives I’d be interested in:
- Dark Knights Metal #1
- Robotech #1
- Star Wars: The Last Jedi Lunch Box
- And get thee to the Hasbro Booth for some great (exclusive) toys!
Another important part of Fan Expo is the purchasing of original art. Whether it’s the big-name, special guest artists, or the talented illustrators you’ll find in Artist Alley, their commission work schedule tends to fill up fast. You might not get a finished art on the day you ask for it! Be sure, then to get on their lists early and often to avoid any disappointment. They should have their commission fees written down in front of where they’re sitting – and will be more than pleased to chat about your favourite heroes!
There’s so much programming – even here on Day 1 of Fan Expo Canada 2017, that it’s tough to decide where tog o and what to see. Here are some recommendations:
How Comics Will Help You In Your Exams And Career: 6:00 PM, ROOM 715B
Pop culture is rife with comic books and I’m telling you: your knowledge of pop culture – and specifically comic books will take you far, both with your teacher and in your chosen field of business. Find out why and how, here!
Celebrity Q&A With The Doctor Who Star Matt Smith: 6:30 PM, ROOM 106
Everyone loves Matt Smith…and to many, he’s the one, true Doctor! In-between scouring the convention floor for your Doctor Who paraphernalia, stop by the Timelords’s Q&A!
“How To” Rocky Horror Costume Panel & Time Warp Dance Lessons: 8:30 PM, ROOM 717A
Get prepped for all things Rocky Horror! If you’re a newby or if you’re a well-seasoned vet of throwing toilette paper, this is the panel for you. Of course, it’s the perfect lead-in to:
Special Event: Cosplay Kickoff Party: 9:00 PM, EFS Nightclub
If Rocky Horror is the headline at this year’s Fan Expo, this particular bit of programming is the must-see that sets the stage for the rest of the weekend!
