Day four of Fan Expo Canada 2017 starts with an early rise and shine, a cold shower, a healthy breakfast, and a cup (or two) of coffee. Grab your backpack – we’re heading out the door for our last, but still busy, day at the Metropolitan Convention Centre.
It’s a long weekend here in Toronto, and that means today you’ll see lots of kids saddling up next to their favourite cosplay superhero or Pikachu for a chance at a photograph. School starts next week, and you can be sure that tales of #FXC17 will echo through the locker-clad hallways.
There’s always one-more-thing to get, isn’t there? So, as you pick your brain for that last item of fancy, here are the things Biff Bam Pop! thinks you should be checking out between the Sunday hours of 10 AM to 5 PM…
Thursdays are meant to be a sort of Fan Expo Canada scouting mission – getting the lay of the land, what the price ranges are for the goodies you want, and meeting up with some friends…some of whom you haven’t seen in a long, long time.
Remember, it’s not a race – Fan Expo Canada is a four-day marathon.
But things really start to get heated today!
Still got those comfortable shoes on? Today’s a longer day, starting at 10 AM and running until 7 PM. So, loosen up those hamstrings and follow us into the fray of Friday’s Day 2!
Here are some of the things Biff Bam Pop! thinks you need to experience today!
Let’s run through your pre-game checklist:
- A hardy breakfast and lunch
- Comfortable shoes
- A backpack
- A visit to the cash machine
- Your list of pop-culture themed heart’s desires
If you haven’t got those five items checked off yet, what are you waiting for? This is Day 1! You plan to make it through to Day 2, don’t you???
Follow us down pop culture lane! Biff Bam Pop! is making it’s way to the Metropolitan Toronto Convention Centre and, between the hours of 4 PM and 9 PM today, there are a number of things to do and see…and tips you need to know.
Let’s not dally another minute…here we go!
With the gut-bursting pop culture excitement of this coming long weekend, I’m wondering if we can’t add a third season into the mix, even if it is a relatively short one! Canada’s largest and most anticipated pop culture experience that ranges from comic books to movies and television to anime to gaming to toys…and so much more… is finally back!
Fan Expo Canada 2017 is here!
After waiting through twelve months of winter and construction, the most eye-popping weekend of the year begins on Thursday at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and runs through Sunday afternoon. And, of course, Biff Bam Pop! will be there!
Here, then, is our prelude to all the sights, sounds, symposiums, breakout sessions, photo-ops and merchandise you need to experience over the coming four days…
With an expectation of over 129,000 people in attendance this year, make sure you hydrate, wear comfy shoes, and follow us around the pop culture floor of Fan Expo Canada 2017!
This past weekend I once more spent multiple days visiting Fan Expo Canada, our country’s version of San Diego Comic-Con. There were celebs galore, and one of the highlights was having the chance to take a picture with my little Princess and her Godfather, BBP’s own JP Fallavollita, and Burt Ward and Adam West, the original Batman and Robin. This was at my girl’s request, by the way. I’m pretty luck, I’d say.
While that moment was certainly routed in the past, another highlight was an amazing glimpse into the future. Our friends at Media Profile, Warner Brother Games Canada and PlayStation gave me the chance to test drive PlayStation VR, the company’s new Virtual Reality head set. It is, safe to say, mind blowing.
This morning I talked about my VR experience with Matt Gurney on National Post Radio on SiriusXM Canada Talks, which you can listen to below.
Thanks again to Media Profile, Warner Brother Games Canada, PlayStation and Touchwood PR for the support and opportunities this year at Fan Expo Canada!
With it being a long weekend, many have set aside this day to bring their kids. And of course, the cos-players are still out in full effect at the convention, and those that thought they had enough yesterday are coming back today because they’ve realized that do want that one last thing, after all.
That makes Sunday, the fourth day, a pretty busy day inside the hallways and room of the Metropolitan Convention Centre.
Me? I’ve done my scouting over the last few days. And now I’m looking to hit some of the vintage vendors for some old time comics and graphic novels. Things that tickle my fancy, things to add to my collection.
So, from 10 AM to 5 PM today, here’s what Biff Bam Pop! thinks you should be checking out on Fan Expo Canada Day 4:
And today’s marathon lasts from 10 AM to 7 PM and it will have you shoulder to shoulder with thousands – THOUSANDS – of other pop culture participants!
Saturday, Day 3 of Fan Expo Canada, is the busiest of the three days. And although that might mean some longer line-ups, it also means amazing atmosphere. The cos-players are out in full force today, so you’ll be seeing every character from comic book and Star Wars lore to video games, anime and manga. Needless to day, it makes for fantastic visuals!
Best of all, if you’re a shopper, you should start to see the beginnings of discounted items later this afternoon. Regardless, haggle anyway. Believe me, you’ll be successful in bringing a price down!
Besides the shopping and the sightseeing, here’s what Biff Bam Pop! thinks you should be checking out on Fan Expo Canada Day 3:
How are your feet? Wearing comfortable shoes? Good. How’s your back? Is the strap on your pack strong enough to carry a heavy load of books, toys and other weighty paraphernalia? Excellent. You’re very nearly prepped.
Today begins Day 2 of Fan Expo Canada – and it’s the first of the two longest days of the pop culture convention operation, starting at 10:00 AM and running until 7:00 PM.
If you didn’t get a chance to make a run to those exclusives tables, make sure you do it first thing this morning – they’re not going to be around much longer. And if you want original art from some of your favourite pencillers and painters in Artist Alley, take it from me and do it now.
Here’s what Biff Bam Pop! thinks you should be checking out on Fan Expo Canada Day 2:
Today begins your personal hero’s journey into pop culture nirvana (and mayhem) with Day 1 of the four-day Fan Expo Canada convention!
Yesterday, we gave you a high-level view of some of the things you need to see and/or experience at the 2016 installment of Fan Expo Canada. You can read that piece right here.
Admittedly, there’s a lot to do. Hopefully, you’ve spent the requisite time reviewing the Fan Expo Canada website with this year’s guests, scheduling and general happenings. If you haven’t, go there now. Don’t worry. We’ll be waiting for you here when you get back.
Good. Now, hopefully you’ve got your ticket. If you don’t, what are you waiting for?
Open from 4 PM to 9 PM, Thursday is a good day for scanning the booths, getting your bearings, and figuring out prices at Fan Expo Canada. But if you know what you want, and you know it’s in limited supply, it’s also a good day to be strategic and get that stuff first. Beat the hordes coming in the next few days!
