It should be a relatively quiet weekend at the box office, with one film ruling all others. Here are our predictions:
New this week is the disaster flick, Pompeii, from director Paul WS Anderson, the mastermind behind the ever successful Resident Evil flicks. Unfortunately, buzz isn’t particularly high for this 3D spectacle, so look for a low debut at number four with $12 million.
As for the rest of the top five, look for The LEGO Movie to continue its run at the top with $36 million. Robocop will come in second with $13 million. About Last Night will grab third place with $12.5 million, with The Monuments Men in fifth place with $10 million. Kevin Costner’s new flick, 3 Days To Kill, will debut outside the top five.
So, to recap, here are our predictions:
1) The LEGO Movie – $36 million
2) Robocop – $13 million
3) About Last Night – $12.5 million
4) Pompeii – $12 million
5) The Monuments Men – $10 million
Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
Bummer about the buzz on “Pompeii”…I was really hoping for a great “disaster” flick. Where’s Roland Emmerich when you need him, lol!
