This weekend sees the big screen debut of the world’s favourite building blocks. Will it make its way to the top of the box office? Here’s our prediction.
The Lego Movie (which Biff Bam Pop’s own Leiki Veskimets worked on down under) should be the choice for kids and families this weekend. With a killer voice cast that includes Christ Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman, the movie is fun and entertaining for everyone (CoreCorina and I went to a screening last week). Look for a big opening of $40 million and a first place showing.

For adults not keen on Lego, The Monuments Men should be a solid choice. An all all-star cast and George Clooney in front of and behind the camera should put the film in second place with $19 million.
As for the rest of the top five, Ride Along will drop to third place with $8 million. Frozen will grab fourth with $7.5 million, while new release Vampire Academy will squeak into the top five with $6 million.
So, to recap, here are our predictions:
1) The Lego Movie – $40 million
2) The Monuments Men – $19 million
3) Ride Along – $8 million
4) Frozen – $7.5 million
5) Vampire Academy – $6 million
