This weekend, say hello to your mother, and then take her to see Lone Survivor, which should have a strong showing for its opening weekend. Here’s our prediction:
Lone Survivor is a war movie staring Mark Wahlberg, who has a great track record when it comes to opening a film. Reviews have been kind so far, and audience just may be looking for an action film to get them out of the winter doldrums. Look for a first place showing with $23 million.
Find out how the rest of the weekend will turn out after the jump.
As for the rest of the top five, Frozen should continue to do well. Look for it to show up in second place with $15 million. The Wolf of Wall Street will grab third place with $8.5 million, with The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug right behind it in fourth with $8 million. Look for American Hustle to close out the top five with $7 million.
I don’t expect to see Her, which moves into wide release, or The Legend of Hercules this weekend, which also opens, having enough traction to make it into the top five.
So, to recap, here are our predictions:
1) Lone Survivor – $23 million
2) Frozen – $15 million
3) The Wolf Of Wall Street – $8.5 million
4) The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug – $8 million
5) American Hustle – $7 million
Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
I believe you’re right about Hercules; watched it last night…one of the worst movies I’ve seen in the last ten years, although it is the kind of movie that’s fun to watch with your buddies so you can go all “Mystery Science Theatre 3000” on it, lol!
