No huge releases this weekend, so it’s a quick box office prediction entry, as the battle is down to two big films.
Both Disney’s Frozen and Catching Fire have a strong chance of claiming the number one spot this weekend, but I’m thinking that with the holiday season in full effect, that we’ll see Frozen grab the number one spot with $35 million. Look for Catching Fire to be closer behind though, with $32 million. Either film could switch spots so Sunday’s results will certainly be interesting.
New release Out Of The Furnace, a revenge flick staring Christian Bale, is the only new film out this weekend, and has neither buzz nor acclaim going for it. Look for a third place showing with $6.9 million. Thor: The Dark World will hit fourth place with $5.5 million, while Homefront should close things out in fifth with $4 million.
So, to recap, here are our predictions:
1) Frozen – $35 million
2) Catching Fire – $32 million
3) Out Of The Furnace – $6.9 million
4) Thor: The Dark World – $5.5 million
5) Homefront – $4 million
