The Walking Dead Recap – Season 3, Episode 2: Sick

Last Week on “The Walking Dead”

Season Three opened with our survivors hitting the ground running. After dodging the zombie attack at the farm, they battle their way into a prison. Why? The prison was packed with zombies. What could be worse than your run of the mill zombie? I’m guessing maybe a zombie with a criminal record. By the end of the show Rick and the others take control of a cell block, but one of them is severely injured. Hershel’s life hangs in the balance after Rick had to amputate part of his leg. Hershel is near death and our survivors discover that they’re not alone. There are five prisoners who have somehow survived the zombies. While the women try to save Hershel, Rick and the group speak with the prisoners. Meet me after the jump.

The prisoners have no idea how bad it is outside the prison and Rick has to tell them the bad news, there is no light at the end of the tunnel. There is a tense discussion over who has claim over the prison. Big Tiny played by Theodus Crane and Tomas played by Nick Gomez are the alpha dogs and don’t want anyone telling them what to do, but in the end they decide to listen to Rick.

Uneasy Truce

The prisoners have food; the survivors have guns so a deal is made. Rick and his group will help the prisoners kill walkers in order to secure a safe cell block for the prisoners to live. Our survivors take half of the food supply back to their cell block and the prisoners now have weapons to fight the zombies.

Carl finds a medical bag and brings it to the women who use it to help the unconscious Hershel. Rick handcuffs Hershel to the bed…just in case. Carol is worried about Lori and her pregnancy and asks Glenn to help her kill a female walker. Carol needs to practice doing a caesarian procedure in case Lori has problems during delivery. Lori, Beth and Maggie are with Hershel when he awakens…but is he still human. You’ll need to watch the show.

With Roommates Like These, Who Needs Enemies?

Suspicious that the prisoners may be more dangerous than the zombies, Rick and his group help the prisoners fight walkers and secure a cell block on the other side of the prison. One of the prisoners, Big Tiny is injured by a zombie and Tomas kills him. As the group continues to fight their way through the zombies, Tomas tries to kill Rick. There is a fight and only two prisoners are left alive. Rick has to decide if they get to live or die.
