Like any good little survivor of the inevitable, upcoming zombie apocalypse, I’m going to follow the herd this Wednesday.
At the end of days, when most of the world’s population is (un)dead, you’ll best beat the odds by surviving within groups of the living. Besides having people around you to converse about the inherent brilliance of this summer’s The Dark Knight Rises film, you’ll be able to use any slow, dim-witted individuals that keep you company, as necessary decoys for the hordes of walking corpses, sure to overrun your temporarily safe social compound.
The Walking Dead comic is the most well-known and successful independent comic of the last ten years. Millions of the living can’t be wrong. So too, millions of the undead.
And that’s why you need to pick up The Walking Dead #100 today.

If you’re only a fan of the AMC television series (like we here at Biff Bam Pop! are), entering its third season of episodes this fall, you might be stunned to hear that that those two seasons you’ve already watched only scratch the first few major arcs of the monthly comic book series – a series that’s been in publication for nearly ten years!
What does that mean to you, dear quality television program viewer?
It means that there’s a lot more story about Rick Grimes and his band of survivors left to discover!
I find it interesting, once in a while, to pick up a comic that I don’t read on a regular basis – one that’s in the middle of a major story arc – just to see where it’s currently at and, possibly, see where it’s going. The extra-sized July issue of The Walking Dead is that sort of comic. It’s compelling. Not just because the series has reached the century mark, but because the issue is part four of the six-part “Something to Fear” storyline that, if speculation (and marketing) is accurate, sees a major shift in this unyielding and relentless title.
No spoilers here, but something big, something brutal, something life-altering is going to happen in this one, people!
And if that promise weren’t enough to entice you into reading, how about the choice of eight variant covers to celebrate it?!? That’s right, you’ve got legendary artists Marc Silvestri, Frank Quitely, Todd McFarlane, Sean Phillips, Bryan Hitch, Ryan Ottley and Charlie Adlard to choose from in these festivities! My personal favourite, seen above, is Adlard’s wrap-around tribute to the many characters that have met their demise in the pages of the comic over the past decade.
So make like the rest of the horde and run, don’t shamble, your way to the local store and pick up The Walking Dead #100. If my ears don’t deceive me, lots of the living will be looking to pick up this particular issue, so you might want to get it early.
Which, in an apocalyptic world rife with zombies, is always better than being…late.
