Celebrate Black History Month And Get ‘Shook! A Black Horror Anthology TPB’ On The Wednesday Run

I’ve always loved a good anthology comic book.

Now, it’s one, highly enjoyable, thing to experience a singular or long-form story in a comic book title featuring a particular character. It’s something completely different to sit down and read the pages of a comic book that features different stories, in different genres, starring different characters, in different settings, crafted by different creatives.

That kind of experience is a veritable buffet of amazing fiction and art!

For me, it’s a throwback to the publications that I was drawn to when I was first introduced to comic books way back when, reading titles such as Epic Illustrated, Wasteland, Taboo and Dark Horse Presents.

Those books were so good. Any issue number. Any story contained therein. It doesn’t matter which one. If you haven’t experienced them, track them down. They’ll make you happy – and, like the epilogue of a Las Vegas-styled all-you-can-eat bullet, full to bursting!

The one thing that all of the publications had in common was their full embrace of the horror genre. And that significant genealogy continues today, as we begin our collective celebrations of February’s Black History Month with the release of Shook! A Black Horror Anthology TBP.

Comprised of stories created by a host of award-winning Black writers and artists and published by Dark Horse Comics in partnership with Second Sight Publishing, Shook! A Black Horror Anthology is a 192-page softcover compilation of twelve separate southern-horror flavoured tales in all sorts of narrative and visual styles.

Whether created by an outright winner of, or a nomination for, the Eisner Award, Hugo Award, Ringo Award or Glyph Comics Award, the stories and art contained within Shook! A Black Horror Anthology will scratch every frightful fancy you might have.

With contributions from a top-talent who’s who list of Shawn Alleyne, Alverne Ball (One Nation #1, One Nation: Old Druids), Rodney Barnes (Killadelphia), David Brame, Brandon Easton (Shadowlaw, Watson and Holmes), Kevin Grevioux (Brothers Bond), Evan Parke, David F. Walker (Bitter Root, Black Panther Party, Naomi, Shaft), Alessio Nocerino, Roberto Castro, Flavio Cortes, Bradley Golden (Leave On The Light), Daniel Gorman, Charlie Goubile, John Jennings (Kindred, The Blacker The Ink, Parable of the Sower), Marcus Roberts (The Protector, Hedge Hollow), Adam Seats, Jamal Williams Jr., Jermel Williams, Phillip R. Williams Jr., and many, many others, the publication has the enviable honour of showcasing Black talent to a larger audience, as we celebrate all things that make up Black History Month.

Horror, anthology comics and celebrations of story and art and history is something we can all get behind.
