A packed edition of The Week in Horror features new posters for the upcoming new entry into the Exorcist canon, some hot new trailers, something very nice and very evil from pro wrestler Danhausen, and a whole lot more!
We’ve got a brand new trailer from director Chuck Russell of The Blob fame, and it’s for his remake of 1986’s Witchboard. The film, which will be released in 2024, stars Madison Iseman, Jamie Campbell Bower, Aaron Dominguez, Antonia Desplat, and Charlie Tahan.
In Witchboard, “Emily (Iseman) and her fiancé Christian (Dominguez) discover a mysterious Wiccan artifact, a pendulum board, as they prepare to open a bistro in New Orleans’ French Quarter. A darkness descends over Emily as she becomes obsessed with the board’s power of divination and ability to summon spirits. Desperate to help his fiancé, Christian seeks the advice of occult expert Alexander Babiaste (Jamie Campbell Bower). But Babiaste has secrets of his own, including his connection to a modern-day coven of witches. A dangerous game begins as each swing of the pendulum puts Emily’s very soul at risk.”
Take a look at this trailer as you prepare to summon the spirits of Witchboard in 2024!
We have three new posters for David Gordon Green’s new interpretation of a horror classic, The Exorcist: Believer. The first film of this trilogy is set to hit theatres on October 13, and will star a returning Ellen Burstyn, Leslie Odom Jr, Ann Dowd, Lidya Jewett, Raphael Sbarge, Jennifer Nettles, and Olivia Marcum.
In the film, “Odom Jr. will play the father of a possessed child. Desperate for help, he tracks down Ellen Burstyn’s character.”

Spooky pro wrestler Danhausen has tweaked his gimmick a little since his time in Ring of Honor, but a new figure commemorating his time in the promotion features some fun little throwback details to remind you of where he came from. The new Jazwares ROH Danhausen figure, unveiled at the San Diego Comic Con, should be hitting store shelves in the next few months and includes a few face swaps, two hand swaps to curse all your opponents, a sweet cape, and what’s that there at the bottom? That’s right, a little jar of teeth!
A new teaser trailer for the twelfth season of American Horror Story is in the wild, and it reveals some interesting details about the latest go-round. The new season will be subtitled ‘Delicate’ and “is based, at least in part, on Danielle Valentine’s upcoming novel Delicate Condition. Out in August from Sourcebooks Landmark, the novel is described as a gripping thriller about a woman who becomes convinced that a sinister figure is going to great lengths to make sure her pregnancy never happens.”
We can see from the trailer that Emma Roberts and Carla Delevingne will star in American Horror Story: Delicate, along with Kim Kardashian in a major role! Check it out here!
Premiering this week at the Fantasia International Film Festival is Mary Dauterman’s feature debut, Booger. The film, both written and directed by Dauterman has an outstanding cast, including horror legend Heather Matarazzo, and Grace Glowicki. It’s said to be a psychedelic ride that also takes a tender look at female friendships.
In Booger, “After Booger, her dead friend’s cat runs away, Anna (Grace Glowicki) grows desperate to find him, ignoring the fact that her life (and body) are totally falling apart.” Dauterman describes her film as “[a] nuanced story…about the joys of friendship, the pain of loss, and the dizzying search back to your center after a crisis.”
Check out a couple of stills from the film, and stay tuned for release details!

I’m looking forward to Ben Wheatley’s sharksploitation film The Meg 2: The Trench as much as anyone, but even I’ll admit that it’s served up with a heaping scoop of schlock. The giant shark movie starring Jason Statham is probably not going to feature in any conversations about high art, but a new Chinese poster for the film might be just that.
The original The Meg was a big box office success in China back in 2018, and it seems clear that the new film will be looking to take a big bite out of that market again with a bespoke promotional campaign ahead of the film’s release on August 4. The film stars Statham alongside Wu Jing, Sophia Cai, Page Kennedy, Skyler Samuels, Cliff Curtis, and Sergio Peris-Mecheta.
In The Meg 2: The Trench, a research team devolves into chaos when a rival mining company hones in on their territory and forces them into conflict with huge Megs and various other underwater predators. Check out the beautiful new poster here!

Finally, we have a trailer for the new season of Alex de la Iglesia’s ’30 Coins’, which is heading to MAX in October. The new season will feature eight episodes directed and written by the Witching & Bitching and Day of the Beast creator and will continue the story of Mayor Paco and a now-comatose Elena. The new trailer features a terrifying and villanous Paul Giamatti as well as some gnarly bug creatures.
’30 Coins’ Season 2 stars Macarena Gómez, Pepón Nieto, Cósimo Fusco, Manolo Solo, Nuria González, Javier Bódalo, Manuel Tallafé, and Najwa Nimri alongside the returning Megan Montaner as Elena, Miguel Angel Silvestre as Mayor Paco, as well as Giamatti. Check out the trailer here!
