Metric – After wowing listeners with last year’s Formentera, Metric surprise announced the follow-up companion album Formentera II, due out on October 13 via Metric Music International/Thirty Tigers. Kicking off the journey back into the world of Formentera is the lead single “Just The Once.” The shimmering disco banger features string arrangements composed by Drew Jureka (Dua Lipa) and mixed by Stuart White (Beyoncé). Talking about the “Just The Once,” Metric frontwoman Emily Haines says: “The only way I can describe “Just The Once” is to call it regret disco. It’s a song for when you need to dance yourself clean. Beneath the sparkling surface, there’s a lyrical exploration of a simple word with many meanings. Once is a word that plays a game of opposites. Once can mean once-upon-a-time and refer to a moment in the past, or it can mean someday, once something happens. And as for doing something only once versus doing something once in a while, well, I think we all kno how vast the difference is between the two.”

charlieonnafriday – 20-year-old Seattle rapper and singer-songwriter charlieonnafriday is out now with his new single “I’m Not Crazy.” Upon first listen, the chorus jumps out as instantly familiar because Charlie interpolates Matchbox Twenty’s classic “Unwell” for the hook. The rising rap sensation wrote the track while on tour with Macklemore in Europe. Eagle-eyed charlieonnafriday fans will have noticed that he’d been teasing the release on his socials for quite some time. Fans won’t have to wait long to experience “I’m Not Crazy” live as charlieonnafriday will be heading out on tour with Tate McRae this fall and his own headlining tour next year!

SleazyWorld Go – It’s about to be a city boy summer thanks to “Don’t Get Ya Feelings In It”, the new anthem from rising rap superstar SleazyWorld Go and Luh Tyler. The collaboration works wonders as Sleazy & Tyler have incredible chemistry. Fresh off being included in XXL’s Freshman Class and with several catchy new singles under his belt, 2023 is shaping up to be a huge year for SleazyWorld Go. If you’re a millennial, you’re about to feel old as the Spicy Rico-directed music video is a flip on Flavor Flav’s VH-1 reality dating show The Flavor of Flav. Instead of a cast of women vying for the love of the famed Public Enemy hype man, they are lusting after SleazyWorld Go and Luh Tyler.

The Beaches – Canadian rockers The Beaches just unveiled “Me & Me”, the latest release from the band’s highly anticipated sophomore album Blame My Ex due out September 15th. Serving as the third single from Blame My Ex, “Me & Me” is an anthem for anyone in the throes of being single. The breezy soft rock jam serves as the perfect vessel for the pointed and relatable lyrics about dealing with loneliness and getting over heartbreak. With lead singer Jordan Miller singing lyrics like “save your pity, bitch / it’s kind of fun, just me and me / won’t waste my life self-loathing”, the track has all the attitude and spirit that listeners have come to love from the Toronto band.

NALA, The Dandy Warhols & Debbie Harry – Miami indie dance darling NALA teamed up with The Dandy Warhols and Debbie Harry for her new single “IWNSLY.” The first release since signing with the label Easier Said, “IWNSLY” (or I Will Never Stop Loving You) is the perfect dance-rock hybrid. Written by NALA and The Dandy Warhols’ Courtney Taylor-Taylor, the track takes Nala’s electronic-punk sound and transports it onto a synth-laden cosmic dance floor. What was it like getting to work with these rock legends? According to NALA: “Never in a million years would I have guessed that I’d be able to work on a track with these two iconic artists. The experience of re-working live instrumentation was really fun for me. It was cool to lean into uncharted territory where psych-rock and dance music live. Grateful to The Dandy Warhols for the opportunity and thrilled to work with the most prominent female punk icon in history. Unreal!”
