Alex Garland is one of my favourite modern writer/directors, having penned hits like The Beach, Annihilation, Ex/Machina, 28 Days Later, and TV’s DEVS (watch DEVS, everyone). His unique visual style and storytelling feels like no one else working today. Garland’s latest film, MEN from A24 releases this spring and has a brand new poster and trailer.

MEN stars Academy Award nominee Jesse Buckley (The Lost Daughter), Rory Kinnear (No Time To Die) and is directed by Alex Garland from his own script.
Details about the plot of MEN are pretty scant so far, but we know that it’s about a woman (Buckley) who travels alone to the English countryside after the death of her husband. Beyond that, we have no real idea, but the trailer focuses a lot on Buckley’s character being practically swallowed up by her surroundings. The aural nightmare of the trailer feels as oppressive as the visuals, which for the socially-conscious Garland can’t be a coincidence. Turn up the volume and check this one out!
Alex Garland’s MEN comes to theatres on May 20, 2022 from A24.
