Calling All Blue Blaze Irregulars For ‘Buckaroo Banzai Against The World Crime League’ On The Wednesday Run

For over thirty-seven years, thousands of Blue Blaze Irregulars all over the world have been waiting for the promised return of Buckaroo Banzai and his heroic group of Hong Kong Cavaliers.

The final frame of his 1984 not-so-summer-blockbuster film, The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension, assured us to “watch for the next adventure of Buckaroo Banzai” and even gave that scintillating escapade a title:

Buckaroo Banzai Against The World Crime League!

So what if his first adventure on the silver screen was a seemingly unintelligible mess for both critics and the masses? So what if, amidst tough theatrical competition in Star Trek III: The Search For Spock, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and the original Ghostbusters, it was a financial flop?

Fans loved it. And the film has only grown an international following in the decades that followed its original theatrical release.

And so, Blue Blaze Irregulars, those “…men and women and children who subscribe to the Blue Blaze newsletter, who attend selected symposia at the Banzai Institute, who submit their bodies periodically to rugged physical training at such places as the desert survival school in Nevada, the mountaineering school in Alaska, and a half dozen other around the globe; who are required to make certain educational advancements; who are “on call” twenty-four hours a day  to help B. Banzai in a pinch, or their neighbors in a natural disaster” have waited patiently.

Yeah. It’s a calling.

And today, the promise is finally fulfilled. We BBIs always knew it would be.

Following The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension is a prose novel, a sequel to that first film, written by E. M. Rauch, who penned the original screenplay. This tale was told to chronicler Rauch by The Reno Kid, a Hong Kong Cavalier – the most trusted of Banzai’s inner circle.

Buckaroo Banzai Against The World Crime League, Et Al: A Compendium of Evils is a 624-page hardcover, published by BB believers, Dark Horse Comics.
