‘Sonic The Hedgehog’ To Hold Off ‘The Call Of The Wild’ At The Box Office

Two new releases arrive this weekend, including The Call of the Wild, the first starring vehicle for Harrison Ford in far too long.

The Call of the Wild is an adaptation of the beloved novel by Jack London about a man and his dog named Buck. Dog films have been doing reasonably well over the last decade and having a post-Han Solo Harrison Ford definitely helps this family film’s chances at the box office. However, it will be competing with Sonic The Hedgehog, a film sure to top the box office this weekend. Reviews for The Call of the Wild have been decent so far, and that may give the movie a leg up, as it were. Look for a second-place showing with $15 million.

As for the rest of the top five, Sonic The Hedgehog will indeed continue its winning ways. Look for it to remain number one with $32 million. Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey will be in third place with $9 million, followed in fourth by Bad Boys For Life with $7 million. Finally, horror sequel Brahms: The Boy 2 will continue the genre’s underwhelming 2020 performance by closing things out in fifth place with $6.5 million.

So, to recap, here are our predictions:

1) Sonic The Hedgehog – $32 million
2) The Call of the Wild – $15 million
3) Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey – $9 million
4) Bad Boys For Life – $7 million
5) Brahms: The Boy 2 – $6.5 million

Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
