‘Avengers: Endgame’ to Hold Strong For its Second Weekend

It’s been an incredible week for Avengers: Endgame. Since it’s record-breaking debut last weekend, with it’s massive $357 debut, the movie has raised its total to more than $450 million in North America. So what’s next?

The next record that Endgame could shatter is Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ $149 million. Will it happen? It almost seems like a foregone conclusion that it will, but by how much. Watching the past week, the hype hasn’t diminished for Endgame, and there’s a strong chance that not only will newcomers hit theaters this weekend, but repeat business will be solid as well. On that note, look for a first place hold for Avengers: Endgame with $155 million.

Following Endgame will be a trio of new releases. Long Shot is a R-rated romantic comedy starring Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen. Reviews have been extremely strong for this film, and it could prove to be good counter-programming for anyone worn out by the Avengers. Look for a second place debut with $13 million.

Animated film Ugly Dolls is geared towards kids, but has a lack of real hype and poor reviews working against it. It will arrive in third place with $10.5 million, followed in fourth place with $10 million by the similarly poorly reviewed thriller The Intruder, starring Dennis Quaid. Finally, Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel should close things out in fifth place with $6 million.

So, to recap, here are our predictions:

1) Avengers: Endgame – $155 million
2) Long Shot – $13 million
3) Ugly Dolls – $10.5 million
4) The Intruder – $10 million
5) Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel – $6 million

Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
