Next Gen of Comic Book Readers Gets ‘Young Justice #1’ On The Wednesday Run

Maybe you’re aware of Young Justice via the pretty awesome cartoon series, televised on the Cartoon Network over last few years. Or maybe you came into contact with Young Justice via the various comic book incarnations that DC Comics published over the past two decades.

Maybe it was your kids who brought you up to speed on the teenage superhero team.

Whatever your initial introduction to the group of heroes, it’s never been like the introduction you’re getting today!

DC Comics, in an effort to broaden their comic book reading demographic (hallelujah!) has started up a youth-friendly imprint called Wonder Comics. Really, it’s something that should have happened a long time ago. There’s only so many times I can bed-time read Watchmen and The Dark Knight Returns to my two-year old without him getting bored and asking for the page-turner called Goodnight Moon.

I’m only partially kidding.

With comic books companies finally acknowledging the importance of a younger generation of fans, DC Comics is putting their best and brightest creators on a group of publications and stories aimed directly at the teen and tween market.

And not the adult spenders who spend most of their hard-earned money on mortgages, car payments, cable bills and ballet lessons.

It’s a savvy decision. And, possibly, industry-saving.

This version of Young Justice, a fresh monthly series, features characters new and old and re-imagined with names like: Superboy, Wonder Girl, Robin, Amethyst, Teen Lantern and Jinny Hex!

If that doesn’t peak an eyebrow, nothing will!

Written by the superstar writer of Action Comics and Superman, Brian Michael Bendis (who is putting an indelible and totally awesome mark on the DC Universe during his still-brief tenure after crossing the aisle from rival Marvel Comics in 2018), and illustrated by the equally amazing artist, Patrick Gleason (Superman, Green Lantern Corps), Young Justice #1 explodes with an inter-dimensional bang!

Evil denizens of Gemworld have invaded Metropolis – and it’s up to the gang of Young Justice to see that a stop is put to their wicked plans.

If you’re into superheroes – or think you could be, if you’re a boy or a girl, if you’re a kid of anywhere between ten and one hundred years of age, Young Justice #1 is the comic book monthly read for you. Make the run to your local comic book shop today and pick it up today!

You can find a sneak preview of the first issue, featuring the very cool Jinny Hex, right here.
