So, what’s with the strange, seemingly unlikely, partnership between Catwoman, Tweety and Sylvester the Cat?
Over the last few years, DC Comics has been mashing up their intellectual property with the characters from Warner Brother’s (DC’s parent company) Looney Toons world of cartoons. You’d remember those classic characters from your youth: Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam, Road Runner, and many others.
Interesting, they’ve been teamed up in fun, whacky, out-of-this-world stories featuring DC heroes including Batman and Wonder Woman, the Legion of Super Heroes, Lobo, Joker and Jonah Hex!
Truly, when you step out of your norm “this stuff is crazy and can’t be happening” mindset, the comic books themselves have a been a ton of fun!
Keeping up with the mayhem, today sees the release of the why-did-we-have-to-wait-this-long? mash-up called: Catwoman/Tweety And Sylvester Special #1!

It’s not like these DC Comics and Looney Toon characters aren’t being taking serious by the publishing company. On the contrary, there are big names attached to the projects.
Jimmy Palmiotti and Mark Texeira were the creative team behind the Jonah Hex/Yosemite Sam Special #1, Tom King and Lee Weeks worked on the Batman/Elmer Fudd Special #1 and Tony Bedard and Barry Kitson were responsible for the Wonder Woman/Tasmanian Devil Special #1.
And there are a whole lot more! (Personally, I can’t wait for an announcement regarding an Omnibus hardcover collecting all of these one-shot issues!)
Following in that lofty tradition, Catwoman/Tweety And Sylvester Special #1 is written by Gail Simone with art by Inaki Miranda – and a back-up feature by Shea Fontana and Walter Carzon.
So, what do Catwoman, Tweety and Sylvester have in common?
Bird and cats, dear readers, have always had some form of animosity in common. And in the Catwoman/Tweety And Sylvester Special #1, it’s no different! In Catwoman, Sylvester finally finds an ally in his pursuit of the golden bird – but Tweety is no slouch in the partner department. He’s got a feathered partner of his own. And the streets – and skies – of Gotham City will be never be the same!
Follow the trail of feathers and fluff…and make the run to your local comic book store to pick up the absolutely ridiculously fun Catwoman/Tweety And Sylvester Special #1!
