While the opening weekend numbers for the latest Jurassic World film may have fallen from the first film’s 2015 debut, there was still a boatload of money to be made this weekend.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom managed to battle off less than stellar reviews to debut in first place with $150 million. That’s off from 2015’s massive $208 debut, which this new film’s weekend gross is only seccond to. While there may not have been the pent up excitement working in its favour this time out, clearly audiences are still invested in the franchise to come out in strong numbers.
Incredibles 2 managed to have a solid second weekend, bringing in an estimated $80.9 million, bringing its two week total to a simply outstanding $349.7 million. The film will easily top $400 million, and could potentially reach as high as $500 million.
As for the rest of the top five, Ocean’s 8 was in third place with $11.6 million, with Tag behind it in fourth with $8.2 million. Meanwhile, Deadpool 2 closed things out in fifth place with $5.2 million, as it crossed the $300 million mark.
