The creators of Riverdale are adapting Sabrina for Netflix, Friday the 13th gets a new Blu-ray set, and more, as we look at some of the biggest stories from the week in horror.
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Comes to Netflix
Though Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa had been developing a television version of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina to go alongside Riverdale, which he is the creator and showrunner for, it turns Sabrina is actually heading to Netflix, complete with a two season pick-up. According to Variety, “The one-hour drama is based on the comic “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” which reimagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult, and witchcraft. The series is described as being tonally in the vein of horror classics like “Rosemary’s Baby” and “The Exorcist,” and will see Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature as a half-witch, half-mortal while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family, and the daylight world humans inhabit.”

The Houses October Built 2 comes to Blu-ray
My favourite new horror franchise is The Houses October Built, which melds found footage and real life stories to create a very unique experience. You can read my interview with the creators here. The sequel hit to the original hit VOD and theaters this past Halloween, and it’s now making its Blu-ray debut January 2nd, 2018 (happy birthday to me!). The Blu-ray will included the following special features:
Deleted scenes
Uncut projection scene
Portrait of a Scare Actor 2
“Halloween Spooks” music video.
